Disability Support Program

The Disability Support Program (DSP) is a new program through the Department of Social Development (GNB) that:

  • Provides funding for personalized, flexible disability supports;
  • Encourages people with disabilities to be directly involved in developing their personal disability support plans;
  • Allows for the provision of independent facilitation and the use of “person centered” approaches to planning and designing disability supports.
  • You may qualify for the Disability Support Program if you:

  • Are a resident of New Brunswick
  • Are 19 to 64 years of age
  • Have a long term disability that substantially limits your ability to carry out regular daily activities; and
  • Require disability related supports in order to address an unmet need for personal care or enhancing independence and community involvement.

  • Once you’ve decided that you or somebody you know should be referred to the Disability Support Program, the next step is gathering some basic information on the person being referred. Make sure to have their date of birth, medicare number, address, and telephone number on hand when calling the Social Development office in your region. Click Here for more information.
