Leaving High School is a time of change for all young people. As students become adults they may want to get a job, go to college, and/or move into their own apartment to become involved in the community they live in. Transition Planning is a process that helps students with a disability identify and learn ways to achieve their goals in preparation for life after High School.

NBACL’s Community Collection Program - How it works
You may have recently heard in the news about some “turf wars” in Ontario over community collection bins. These are the large containers you see around the community where people can deposit donations of used clothing and household items that are ultimately re-sold to raise money for charities. Thanks to a reliable and reputable system here in New Brunswick, we have not experienced the same issues as Ontario. We did, however, want to take this opportunity to share with you how our Community Collection Program works.

We are please to announce the launch of a new online learning module titled "Financial and Estate Planning for a Family Member with a Disability." There are many issues to consider when making financial and estate plans for your family member with a disability. This on-line module provides information on a number of important topics as well as links to other resources that may be useful.
This online module would not have been possible without the generous support of Freedom 55 Financial, A Division of London Life Insurance Company. Their support is greatly appreciated.

Creating an Inclusive School is a resource designed to motivate school communities to
promote, create and sustain inclusive schools throughout New Brunswick. It is intended to help
nurture the development of rich and inclusive educational settings that respect and value
diversity, promote belonging for every student, and ensure that students receive a quality
education in common learning environments.
Inclusive schools are an important foundation for an inclusive society. New Brunswick has
recognized this for over 20 years following changes to laws and policies that recognized the
right of students with a disability (identified as “exceptional” students in the Education Act) to
be included in regular classrooms.
